Financial Tools, Technical and Policy Education

Service packages, supporting the Applied Solutions mission are available to all Applied Solutions member governments. Publications from some of these service packages will be sent at no cost to all new members.

Policy Education Services Package:

  • We publish a monthly newsletter in partnership with Squire Sanders, LLP, a Washington DC policy firm that provides analysis of relevant legislation with local government priorities as the primary analytical consideration. Below are some samples of our monthly publication:

  • Periodic webinars focusing on deeper analysis and expert discussion to provide Applied Solutions members regular national legislative updates.
  • Overhead view of government actions that have direct impact on local action and authority specific to the areas of water, energy, transportation and land use.

Financial Tools:

  • "In-a-box" toolkits with strong finance focus, detailed guidance and step-by-step technical support. Currently under development* are the following finance options:

    • Feed-in-Tariff-in-a-box is being developed in partnership with the Clean Coalition for more information on this tool, see the FiT-in-a-box page.
    • Community-Choice-Aggregation-in-a-box is being developed in partnership with Local Power Inc. with an emphasis on economic developemtn through localized renewable resources. Applied Solutions is also partnering with LEAN US, a nonprofit organization that aims to advance Community Choice Aggregation in communities across the country.
    • Property Assessed Clean Energy financing a California specific PACE program replication toolkit is currently being developed by the Sonoma County Energy Independence Program and Applied Solutions will be helping to distribute that toolkit to interested local governments.

  • A partnership between Applied Solutions and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory is being developed to help coordinate our financial services assistance programs. See the NREL Renewable Energy Project Finance Page for more information on their program and offerings.

Technical Services:
